“Update and close” doesn’t work as expected
It is clear that this problem, which has appeared on various platforms, including social media platforms and the feedback center, is not exclusive to a few people. An important problem for users who prefer to shut down the system instead of restarting the computer after the update. So, why does it occur? According to a former Microsoft developer, one possible reason is the Fast Startup feature, which is intended to speed up boot times.
If the system has not been updated for a while or a previous update has not been completed, a reboot may be required for Windows 10 or 11 to complete the installation. In this context, it can be considered normal that the “update and close” option does not work as expected. However, there is still no official statement and solution proposal from Microsoft regarding the issue.
