YouTube, the world’s largest video sharing platform, hosted various discussions with the prediction that it will “end television” for many years. Today, with almost all mainstream media starting to broadcast on YouTube, YouTube has finished television or television has taken over YouTube, although it is difficult to decide, the platform continues to innovate to change our television watching habits.

Making a new announcement on the official X account, YouTube announced that it will bring a multi-view feature to the platform. With the mentioned feature, you will have the opportunity to watch more than one live at the same time. Yes, the feature in question will not be available to watch standard YouTube videos.

It will be possible to watch 4 matches at the same time.

The feature, which YouTube calls “multi-watching”, can only be used with YouTube TV, where live broadcasts of more than 85 TVs can be watched, and “Primetime Channels”, which offers a single point subscription and access to different streaming services. Therefore, we can say that standard YouTube live broadcasts will not support the multi-view feature, at least for now. (However, it was very useful on election nights.)

We say it won’t “yet” support standard YouTube live streams because the feature is currently almost in beta. So much so that YouTube will not yet allow users of YouTube TV or Primetime Channels to use the multi-watch feature in which broadcasts. YouTube will automatically select and group four WNBA or NFL broadcasts. Users will see the multi-watch recommendation on the homepage and can watch four YouTube-selected broadcasts at the same time.

YouTube multi-watch won’t be available on mobile or web

Meanwhile; It should be noted that YouTube says that in the future users will be able to choose which broadcasts they can watch at the same time. Maybe when that day comes, standard YouTube broadcasts will also support multi-view feature.

One of the biggest cons of YouTube’s multi-view feature is that it’s only available for YouTube’s app on smart TV and streaming devices like Apple TV. There will be no multi-tracking feature in the mobile or web version. Considering that the screen will be divided into four, we can guess that it will not be very pleasant to open it on a 6-7 inch smartphone screen.
