On Tuesday afternoon, Musk replaced Twitter’s X logo with a logo with slightly thicker lines. However, he later said he would revert the change.
“I don’t like thicker bars, so I’m taking it back. The logo will evolve over time,” Musk tweeted. The updated logo has already been added to Twitter’s homepage, and Musk even changed his profile picture accordingly. However, both logos did not appear on Twitter’s mobile app.

While the updated logo is only slightly different, it looks closer to the design featured in Twitter user Sawyer Merritt’s tweet, where Musk received the new logo over the weekend.
On Sunday, Musk announced that he was rebranding Twitter to “X” and said that if anyone posts a “good enough” logo that night, he’ll post it the next day. Musk later pinned a tweet containing a video of Merritt’s X logo, which was posted on the site shortly after.
The first version of the logo is quite similar to Monotype’s Special Alphabets 4 font and also matches a Unicode character. Musk said this will serve as a “temporary” design, but it’s unclear when he’ll decide on a final design.
