It looks like there will be a number of design changes on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models. We previously reported that a new “Action” button will come instead of the volume on/off switch. In the new developer beta program of iOS 17, some details about this button have emerged.
“Action” button for iPhone 15 appeared in iOS 17 codes
The iPhone 15 Pro family can witness the removal of the volume key for the first time in many years. The new action button will reportedly offer nine customizable options. These options will include accessibility shortcuts, camera controls, and capabilities like Siri control.
Although it has different features, its camera-side capabilities seem to draw attention. For example, in the camera app, it will autofocus by pressing lightly, and take a photo when fully pressed. Also, long press will start video recording.
The button is expected to be developed as solid-state. This means it will be force sensitive, meaning it will provide haptic feedback. On the other hand, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that Apple has shelved its plans for solid-state buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro due to manufacturing issues.
Previously revealed iPhone 15 Pro cases also confirmed the presence of this button instead of the volume switch. It should not be ignored that Apple will present some changes on the features of the button.

The iPhone 15 series is expected to be introduced in September. In addition to the renewed button, it will be powered by the A17 chip and will include a 48 Megapixel main camera.
