READING NOW Google Play Store has been renewed: Here is the new version!

The Play Store is revamping for big-screen devices like foldable phones, Android tablets, and Chromebooks. The company first discussed these changes at Google I/O last year. Now it’s on the hunt for four major updates that will make it easier for users to find apps optimized for big screens and improve the way the Play Store works on big screens.

Google Play Store is being renewed

Google’s new plans include promoting games with high-quality and “correct” promotional videos. Users will see video banners at the top of a game’s listing page, allowing them to get an idea of the game before downloading the app.

Google will also organize apps and game detail pages in a multi-column layout, moving content higher up on the app listing page. Some applications will be featured on foldable devices and tablets. Apps that resize well across devices, and that support both portrait and landscape orientations, will be featured more.

Editors’ Choice and other curated collections and articles will also consider these criteria in the future. This can be seen as Google’s way of forcing developers to make their apps more suitable for big screen devices. However, the changes are not limited to these. Google is also pursuing a series of innovations to improve the experience of browsing the Play Store application.

You will now see a left-hand navigation bar on your tablets, Chromebooks, and foldable devices. This makes menu items more accessible, especially when keeping a large-screen device in landscape mode. Not limited to this, Google also offers a split-screen experience to better compare applications when searching.

Users will see the search results and app details pages side by side. This will offer convenience by preventing them from switching back and forth while searching for new apps. These changes are expected to be implemented next week.
