Xiaomi has announced the end of support for its six popular smartphones released in 2020 and 2021. The devices in question have been added to the EOS (End of Support) list on the Chinese brand’s official website. Here are the retired models:
- Xiaomi Mi 10
- Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
- Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra
- Redmi Note 9 Pro
- Redmi 9C
- Redmi Note 10 5G
Official OS updates and security patches will no longer be released for the aforementioned devices. After this stage, those who want to update their smartphones can use alternative firmware from third-party developers, if available.
Phones that don’t receive updates are risky
Let us remind you that using smartphones whose support period has expired poses a serious risk in terms of data security. Because these devices will be unprotected against newly discovered security vulnerabilities, they can endanger the personal data of the phone owner.
In addition, phones without update support may have difficulty dealing with software bugs and performance issues. This, as you will appreciate, will negatively affect the stability and user experience of the device.
