Netflix won’t develop apps for Vision Pro
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Netflix won’t make a native app for Vision Pro, but will instead allow the existing iPad app to run on Apple’s upcoming mixed reality glasses. As Gurman points out in his post, developers who don’t want to build Vision Pro software from scratch have two options: let iPad apps run as-is on the device, or tweak the Vision Pro. While Netflix may have opted for the first option, we don’t know if this was deliberate. As it is known, Netflix was one of the first to oppose Apple’s in-app purchase policy.
The Vision Pro will launch early next year with a price tag of $3,499. The production volume of the device will also be low in the first year. So the high price won’t be a big deal for early adopters tech enthusiasts. Prices are likely to decrease in the future. On the other hand, it is obvious that special applications for the device should come. Because users may get bored after a while when they see the same interface they use on their iPads.
