CoinList, the preferred crypto exchange for gem projects, fell victim to a Twitter hack. June 23 begins with a million-dollar hack and a scam story.

Crypto exchange CoinList lost its Twitter account

CoinList has been the victim of a Twitter attack with far-reaching consequences. Hackers used CoinList’s Twitter account to launch a new token.

A fake post had 38.5k views in half an hour. Specifically, the comments for the post have been disabled. This prevented the community from pointing out any anomalies or warning others in the comment section. Minutes after the incident, CoinList reported via Telegram that their Twitter account had indeed been hacked. It also issued a warning that the alleged LIST airdrop event is not true.

The tweet is still live

The CoinList team has yet to clean up the malicious post from its Twitter account. According to the Telegram message, “CoinList’s Twitter account has been hacked. Please do not click any link. We have not issued any tokens and we have no such plans. We’ll let you know when the issue is resolved.”

Crypto payments provider Alphapo loses $23 million

In another incident, Alphapo, a major crypto payment service provider, was the victim of a major hack that resulted in a staggering loss of more than $23 million in Ethereum (ETH), Tron (TRX) and Bitcoin (BTC).

The sad news was first brought to the public’s attention by renowned Blockchain detective ZachXBT. “Earlier today Alphapo hot wallets lost over $23M in ETH, TRON and BTC,” ZachXBT wrote on Twitter. The tweet quickly gained traction, alerting users and investors to the seriousness of the breach.

Alphapo serves as a crypto payment gateway for numerous gambling services with HypeDrop, Bovada and Ignition among its leading clients. HypeDrop instantly felt the ripple effects of the hack. The gambling platform had to suspend its withdrawal services. Currently, its users cannot access their funds.

Hacking incidents continue to surround the agenda

In April, zkSync’s Twitter account was hacked for several hours. More recently, the Twitter account of Hayden Adams, founder of Uniswap, was hacked. The attacker used Adams’ account to post fake airdrop announcements, convincing users to click on misleading links. As Kriptokoin.com, we have included the details of the hot development in this article.

The crypto industry has exploded in popularity and growth in recent years. That’s why incidents like this highlight the importance of staying vigilant and adopting security best practices. Users should remain informed and cautious about interacting with potentially malicious content, especially when it comes to token sales and announcements from official accounts. Implementing robust security measures such as two-factor authentication and being vigilant against phishing attempts are vital to protecting personal and financial information in the crypto space.
