We still bear the pain of the 6 February earthquake in Kahramanmaraş. I wish it had not happened, of course, but unfortunately we cannot prevent natural disasters. However, we can develop technologies that have the ability to detect these natural disasters beforehand.
One of the developments in this regard is that it sprinkles water on us for future earthquakes. Scientists have developed a system that can predict earthquakes of magnitude 7 and above using GPS technology.
Can detect earthquakes 2 hours in advance

Although it exists for volcanic eruptions, a signal set that gives a clear prediction for large earthquakes has not been developed until now. To find a leading signal, the scientists analyzed high-speed GPS time series from 90 different earthquakes of magnitude 7 and above.
They observed a subtle signal rising from the noise about 2 hours before these large earthquakes occurred. This work could enable fault tracing for this pioneering phase with denser and higher precision instrumentation.
They detect this fine signal by analyzing a total of 3026 GPS data. In this way, there are opportunities to evacuate the area where an earthquake will occur 2 hours in advance. If you wish, you can read the full text of the study here.
