Giant chip manufacturer TSMC plans to manufacture special processors for Apple at its facility in Arizona, but mass production of chipsets will be delayed due to labor shortages.

4nm processors may reach 2025

It is said that TSMC has difficulty in finding experts in establishing semiconductor factories in America. The company may have to bring in experienced technicians from Taiwan to work on a temporary basis. This means that the production of 4nm processors can be delayed until 2025.

Apple-specific processor will be produced in the new factory

In November, rumors surfaced that TSMC would open its Arizona factory in 2024 and immediately begin manufacturing 4-nanometer processors for Apple. However, production will be delayed due to the lack of workers. Meanwhile, the company plans to establish a facility where more advanced 3-nanometer chips will be produced for Apple after producing 4 nanometer chips. Apple’s new iPhone 15 models and M3 series processors are expected to be built on TSMC’s 3nm, but the first processors will be manufactured in Taiwan factories.
