AMD recently introduced its first cloud-based processor, the 128-core EPYC 9754. The EPYC 9754 is currently the world’s fastest x86 processor model thanks to its 128 cores, 256 threads, 256MB L2 cache and advanced Zen 4C/Bergamo architecture. The company’s new processor has started to be offered for sale in some European countries.

The company’s new cloud-based processor has already shown itself in some online outlets in Europe. The price of the processor, which shows itself in the Netherlands, Finland, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Finland and France, varies between 9 thousand 500 and 11 thousand 200 dollars.

With 6 TB RAM (12 channels x 512 GB DDR5 memory) and PCIe 5.1 support, the EPYC 97754 also offers standard enterprise RAS (Reliability, Availability and Serviceability). AMD states that its new processor offers a wide range of workloads, from VDI to HPC and web hosting.

The popular V-Ray 5 benchmark reveals that a single EPYC 9754 processor is faster than two Xeon Platinum 8490H CPUs. The Xeon Platinum 8490H, which is currently Intel’s fastest and most expensive model with 60 cores and 120 threads, lags behind with its price of 34 thousand dollars.

A more enterprise-focused benchmark, SPEC CPU 2017 reveals that a two-socket EPYC 9754 consumes around 40 percent less power at maximum load than a four-socket 8490H. It is also claimed that the 2P AMD EPYC 9754 server will be almost 4x faster than the 2P Ampere Altra Max M128-30 system when using NGINX.

With these features it offers, the EPYC 9754 seems to take its place in many business computers in a short time. So what do you think about AMD’s fastest processor model? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
