As in our previous content, all the images used in this Midjourney content were completely produced by artificial intelligence. However, the recently released version 5.2 of Midjourney has made its debut with key enhancements and a brand new ‘zoom’ feature. The new version produces fascinating visuals with its “zoom out” feature. Let’s look at examples and details of them.

New Midjourney zoom mode works wonders

Introduced in May, Midjourney 5.1 focused on quality of detail. Midjourney 5.2 focuses more on functionality. The new zoom tool added is also the most prominent innovation. Similar to Adobe’s Generative Fill tool, the zoom out feature allows users to enlarge the original image while keeping the details the same.
In order to use this feature, a prompt must be entered via the “/image” command and one of the obvious results must be selected and “upscaled”. After you enlarge your selected image, Midjourney will add “2x Zoom Out”, “1.5x Zoom Out” and “Custom zoom” options below the image. The first two zoom the original scene to two and a half times the scale of the original image respectively, while the other option is simple including input It allows you to make fine adjustments.

It is not possible to zoom out more than the 2x zoom limit, but it is not very important because it is possible to zoom out as much as you want. If you like to mess around, you can turn visual scenes into captivating videos. I recommend you to take a look at the sample Twitter video just above.

Square form mode

Another feature that comes with Midjourney 5.2 is the “Make Square” mode that users have been requesting for a while. This mod, as the name suggests, puts the output in square form (1:1). Horizontal images (created with the -ar 16:9 finish command) can be expanded vertically using this tool and vice versa.

variation mode

Midjourney V5.2 also comes with a new feature called “Variation Mode” that allows users to focus on the type of visual nuance and change they want to apply to their output. You need to use the “/settings” prompt to set this feature to high variation mode or vice versa.

High variation can cause slightly more visual aberration from the original output, which can lead to more interesting or exploratory results, while keeping the setting low tends to allow for more visual consistency.

short commands

One of the biggest misconceptions about Midjourney is that if you use more words in your prompt, you’ll automatically see better or more detailed results. While creating verbose prompts can result in more appealing output, often overly verbose prompts take away the impact of each word and can result in uninspired output that is less likely to match what you have in mind. One of the most useful ways to get around this would be to use Midjourney’s “Shorten” command. Simply type “/shorten” and add your word prompt. It will analyze Midjourney components and suggest several alternative prompts for you to use.
