Companies such as Apple, Samsung, OnePlus, Google, Xiaomi are among the first names that come to mind when it comes to smartphones. Sony, on the other hand, probably won’t even be in the top ten companies that most people think about.

Although it has been claimed many times that Sony will exit the phone business, this has never happened. and it looks like it plans to continue developing its own phones for a while.

Sony has entered into a multi-year deal with Qualcomm to use Snapdragon platforms to power mobile phones. This agreement is an extension of an existing agreement between the two parties. Qualcomm chipsets will be used in Sony’s upcoming premium devices and high and mid-range smartphones.

Sony introduced the oddly named Xperia 1 V last month. This smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and mainly offers features for photographers and vloggers. While these are relatively few use cases, Sony is leveraging its camera technology to help users capture high-quality photos and videos. For example, the Xperia 1 V can be used as a monitor for compatible Sony Alpha cameras. Still, Sony has a notable price tag for its high-end Xperia smartphones.

Also, the company introduced the mid-range Xperia 10 V once in May. This phone has Snapdragon 695 chipset and 60Hz, 1080p OLED display.
