Twitter has made a decision regarding the AMP service. The popular social media platform recently announced an update. The company fixed an issue by taking into account complaints from users. Users complained about the ‘disappearing tweet’ issue in the web version. In other words, since the page is automatically refreshed while reading a tweet, the tweet being read falls back.

Finally, the social media company made a new statement. Accordingly, it stopped opening links in AMP on iOS and Android devices. The feature will be phased out before 2022.

Twitter silently cuts AMP support

As The Verge reports, SEO expert Christian Oliveira noticed an improvement on Twitter. Oliveira announced that Twitter is withdrawing support for Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) on mobile devices. This feature, which is important for SEO, is the coding technique for faster opening of mobile pages.

Adding an update to the explanation on the support page, Twitter stated that it will remove the AMP feature by the end of the year. However, this process seems to be complete with Twitter removing this feature from iOS and Android. Now when you try to visit a page from Twitter, you will be redirected directly to the web page instead of the AMP version.

Twitter stated that AMP allows for fast-loading, high-performance mobile web experiences. However, this technology, which Google introduced in 2015, is also quite controversial. Much of the controversy stems from Google’s control over the project. Some experts said that Google is trying to strengthen its control over the open web. It also caused various problems in Twitter’s user interface.

By the way, Twitter’s statement on this issue does not state the reason for the policy change. So, do you have any comments on this change? We welcome your comments on the subject…
