Meta’s instant messaging app WhatsApp is getting a new privacy feature that allows users to automatically silence calls from unknown numbers. This feature aims to help filter out calls from unknown people that may be scams or spam.
WhatsApp says automatically muted calls will appear in the Calls tab and in your notifications. That way, you can review them later and come back if you notice someone important.
To use the new WhatsApp unknown caller mute feature, you must be running the latest version of the app on your Android or iOS device. Go to Settings > Privacy tab and scroll down to the Calls option. On the next screen, enable the option that says Mute Unknown Users.
Privacy Checkup tool
Apart from this new feature, WhatsApp has also added a new Privacy Checkup tool with a step-by-step UI that will guide you through important privacy settings. You can use the feature by tapping the “Start Control” option on the Privacy page in the app.
The instant messaging app recently rolled out a privacy feature called Chat Lock, which allows users to hide their secret chats in a secure folder. It also added the long-awaited feature that lets users edit sent messages, launched a new Security Center, and redesigned its apps for Android and iOS.
Among the new features that WhatsApp has recently gained is the Channels feature, which allows administrators to send one-way messages to their followers.
As seen in beta versions, WhatsApp is also testing a feature where users can share their screen during video calls. WhatsApp Beta allows users to send short video messages of up to 60 seconds on mobile devices.
