Denis Le Vot, CEO of Dacia, which continues to work as a sub-brand of French automotive giant Renault, gave an important interview to AutoCar magazine. In this interview, the CEO conveyed the company’s plans for the future and signaled that Dacia would make a firm exit to the electric car world. A reminder: The company launched its electric car called “Spring” in 2021, and this vehicle sold around 120,000 in the countries where it was launched.
According to the statement of Dacia CEO Denis Le Vot, the company wants to expand its electric product range. Moreover, Dacia will do this through its main models. According to the statement, Dacia will introduce the fourth generation of Sandero, the B-segment car, in 2027 or 2028, and will introduce the electric version of this vehicle to consumers. According to Denis Le Vot, the electric Sandero will be the brand’s affordable electric model.
“Affordable price” will cause some disadvantages
Denis Le Vot, in his statement about the electric Sandero, also compared this vehicle with its competitors in the market. According to the Dacia CEO’s statement, the electric Sandero will be really cheap compared to its competitors. However, this will lead to some disadvantages. Le Vot states that the vehicle range will also be low. On the other hand; Fast charging support will not be available on the electric Sandero. This means longer charging time. It seems that Dacia is working on a model suitable for city use only.
Three new models are coming to the C segment!
Xavier Martinet, the head of Dacia’s sales and marketing unit, also made statements on the subject. Martinet said that Dacia is preparing to introduce 3 new vehicles in the C segment. However, according to the Dacia official, investments in the C segment will be independent of Sandero. Dacia will continue to sell Sandero, which will be equipped with an electric motor, as the brand’s affordable product for years.
