Privacy focused web browser Brave announced the launch of Brave Wallet, a free crypto wallet integrated into the desktop version. Thus, Brave’s support for crypto has grown a little more.

With over 42 million users, Brave browser’s new wallet is being offered as a one-stop shop for users to store, manage and exchange their crypto portfolios.

Brave claims that unlike most wallets, Brave Wallet is native to the browser, meaning it doesn’t require any extensions, reducing security risks and extra CPU and memory usage.

Brian Bondy, Brave’s CTO and co-founder said, “The crypto boom has brought blockchain applications mainstream, but like any fast-growing innovation, this rapid rise comes with its own set of challenges. One of those challenges is that the crypto wallet industry’s DApp [[edit]] “Decentralized application] trusts extensions that create conflict over adoption and often lead users to lose money through fake extension phishing scams.”

Users can send and receive cryptocurrencies using Brave Wallet and see live and historical market data thanks to the integration of charts with price data from CoinGecko.

Users can also connect Brave Wallet with hardware wallets such as Ledger Nano X and Trezor Model T.

Brave Wallet supports all Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible blockchains such as Polygon, xDai, Avalanche and more.

Also, Brave highlights the fact that, unlike other wallet extensions, Brave Wallet was created with an open MPL license to encourage contributions and build an active developer community.

Brave Wallet is available for free and users need to download the Brave browser or use the Brave desktop browser v1. Just upgrade to version 32. Brave Wallet related settings can be accessed under the Wallet tab on the browser’s settings page (brave://settings/).
