Apple, one of the most famous companies in the world, has been following a very insistent policy that repairs should be made at Apple Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers since it launched iPhone and Mac brands. A surprising news came from the Apple front, which is expected to continue these policies in the new period.

You will be able to repair your own Apple device yourself

As of today, according to the new announcement made by the company; In the new period, Apple’s repair kits and spare parts will also be offered to the end user. The pilot program, which will be carried out for a limited region and for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series in the first period, will also be offered to Mac computers with M1 processors until the end of 2022. Thus, users will be able to repair their device without going to Apple’s authorized service.

Here is the information about the new program:

  • Repair tools will be provided only for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models at first.
  • After 2022, repair kits will also be available for Macs with M1 processors.
  • The service will initially only be available to Apple users in the United States. A few more countries will be included in the system by the end of 2022.
  • New program; It will primarily be used for the repair of main modules such as the screen, battery and camera, and later on, different repair possibilities will be offered.
  • Written instructions will be included in the repair kits sent. Users will be able to perform the repair step by step by following these instructions.

Making a statement on the subject, Apple COO Jeff Williams stated that they will create a wide-ranging opportunity for Apple’s repair kits to be delivered to the end user.

Stating that they have doubled the service points that can access iPhone and Mac parts and repair kits in the last three years, Willliams stated that they want to provide support to users who want to repair their own devices in the coming period. Williams added that they aim to offer more than 200 spare parts and tools to the end users by the end of 2022.

So what do you think about this program that Apple plans to offer to users in the new period? Do you think it is a positive move to offer repair opportunities outside of official service points? Do not forget to share your views with us in the comments section.
