AMD has announced its new Ryzen PRO 7000 series processors built on the Zen4 architecture and the 4nm manufacturing node. The successor to the Ryzen Pro 5000 series showcased last year, Ryzen PRO 7000 brings DDR5 and PCIe Gen5 support for both laptop and desktop platforms. Let’s take a look at the details together.

AMD Ryzen PRO 7000 processors introduced

Ryzen 7000 Pro desktop processors, including the Ryzen 5 Pro 7645, Ryzen 7 Pro 7745, and Ryzen 9 Pro 7945, have the same 65W TDP as their predecessors. However, there are significant differences in core configurations, cache and clock speeds. However, Ryzen 5 Pro 7645 will be showcased with 6 cores 12 threads, 3.8GHz base, 5.1GHz increased clock speed, 38MB L2+L3 cache capacity.

A top model, the Ryzen 7 Pro 7745, comes with 8 cores and 16 threads, 3.8GHz base 5.3GHz increased clock speed and 40MB L2+L3 cache capacity. The flagship of the family, Ryzen 9 Pro 7945, will have 12 cores, 24 threads, 3.7GHz-5.4GHz clock speed, 76MB L2+L3 cache capacity. It should also be noted that all processors will be powered by the internal Radeon GPU.

In addition to desktop chips, AMD also introduced the Ryzen PRO 7040 series, designed for ultrathin business laptops. The Ryzen PRO 7040 family consists of 3 “HS” and 3 “U” series chipsets, 6 in total. These processors and their features are as follows:

Ryzen Pro 7000 “U” processors

  • Ryzen 5 Pro 7540U: 6 cores 12 threads, 3.2GHz-4.9GHz clock speed, 22MB cache, 15-28W TDP
  • Ryzen 5 Pro 7640U: 6 cores 12 threads, 3.5GHz-4.9GHz clock speed, 22MB cache, 15-28W TDP
  • Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U: 8 cores 16 threads, 3.3GHz-5.1GHz clock speed, 24MB cache, 15-28W TDP

Ryzen Pro 7000 “HS” processors

  • Ryzen 5 Pro 7640HS: 6 cores 12 threads, 4.3GHz-5.0GHz clock speed, 22MB cache, 35-54W TDP
  • Ryzen 7 Pro 7840HS: 8 cores 16 threads, 3.8GHz-5.1GHz clock speed, 24MB cache, 35-54W TDP
  • Ryzen 9 Pro 7940HS: 8 cores 16 threads, 4.0GHz-5.2GHz clock speed, 24MB cache, 35-54W TDP

In the statement, AMD did not specify any release date for the Ryzen Pro 7000 processors. However, both mobile and desktop solutions are expected to be showcased in the coming weeks.
