Google will show you how an outfit looks on you before you buy it, with the help of artificial intelligence

Google's new "virtual trial" feature uses generative artificial intelligence to dress models of different body types in the same outfit. In this way, before you buy an outfit, you will be able to understand how it will look on you.

Google said yesterday that it has started using artificial intelligence in its online shopping tool to show how clothes from online retailers will fit different body types. This is another move by Google to bring generative AI into its product range and online services.

The new Google shopping feature, available with brands like Anthropologie, Everlane, H&M, and Loft, uses artificial intelligence to render an image of the garment on a real model to show what garment sizes look like on real people. This is the latest move by major internet companies and retailers, including Amazon and Walmart, to improve the shopping and virtual experience.

While Google uses artificial intelligence to create the image of the desired outfit, it uses real people to show how the outfit fits. Shyam Sunder, group product manager responsible for the virtual trial feature at Google, said at a press briefing that the company hired 80 models (40 women and 40 men) to create this shopping option.

Google says the feature will initially only support women’s tops, but plans to expand to other categories as well. The company said it chose models with different skin tones and sizes ranging from 2X small to 4X large. As well as browsing the sizes, you’ll also be able to find similar products at different prices, colors, and patterns.
