Following Apple’s WWDC 2023 keynote, production of the last remaining Intel-powered Macs was finally discontinued. With this step, the transition from Intel to Apple Silicon hardware, which took almost three years, was completed.
Previously, Apple’s only Intel Mac Pro still on sale was the 2019 Mac Pro. However, with the launch of the new model, there is no Intel computer in the official store of the Cupertino company anymore.
Support for Intel Macs continues
Even though Apple’s website no longer has Intel Macs, the company still supports most Intel Macs. For example, there are several Intel Macs that will receive the new operating system update with macOS Sonoma due this fall. The list of them is as follows:
- 2019 iMac or newer
- 2017 iMac Pro
- 2018 MacBook Air or newer
- 2018 MacBook Pro or newer
- 2019 Mac Pro or newer
- 2018 Mac mini or newer
Apple users now have a large selection of Apple Silicon Macs to choose from. In addition, the company is quickly ending Intel Mac support, while offering even more exclusive features to Macs with M1 and M2 chips.
