US-based technology giant Apple held the launch phase of the WWDC 2023 event at the beginning of the week. The most important product at this event was undoubtedly the mixed reality glasses called “Vision Pro”. The glasses, which have seriously impressive features, can be purchased for $ 3,499 as of 2024.

Although the Apple Vision Pro comes across as a very innovative product, it is not the only one of its kind. For example, Meta – formerly Facebook – has been working on such products for years. In fact, the company introduced its new mixed reality glasses called Quest 3 in the past weeks. The latest news about the mixed reality industry reveals that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg does not like Apple Vision Pro very much.

Zuckerberg: Not what I wanted!

Zuckerberg, who held a meeting with Meta employees, said that Apple could not put anything on Meta Quest 3 at this meeting. Meta CEO, who said “it’s not what I want” for the mixed reality glasses, stated that the product is still important. According to Mark Zuckerberg, Apple Vision Pro creates a new vision for the future of the computing world.

Although Meta CEO has criticized Apple’s mixed reality glasses, it should be noted that they are not at an extraordinary level in this regard. So much so that Zuckerberg spends more than a billion dollars every month on metaverse technologies, which are an extension of the mixed reality world. However, this technology is never adopted and does not reach the desired stage. Meta announced in its last earnings call that Reality Labs, which develops metaverse technologies, lost $3.99 billion in just 3 months.

Here is Mark Zuckerberg’s full description:

Apple’s mixed reality glasses have finally been announced, and I want to talk about it. I’m really curious what they will send. Honestly I haven’t seen it yet, so I’ll learn more as I play with it and see what it is and how people use it.

The good news from what I saw initially is that they have no magic solutions for any of the constraints on the laws of physics that Meta has yet to discover and consider. They came with a higher resolution display and all the tech they put in there to power it costs seven times more. And it takes so much energy that you now need a battery and a wire attached to it to use it.

For all Apple Vision Pro features:

But look, I think their announcement showcases the difference in values and vision our companies bring to it in a way that I think is really important. We innovate to make our products as accessible and affordable as possible for everyone, and it’s a core part of what we do. And we’ve sold tens of millions of Quests.

More importantly, our metaverse vision is about sociability. It’s about people interacting in new ways and feeling closer in new ways. Our device is also about being active and doing things. In contrast, every demo they showed was a person sitting on a couch alone. I mean, it may be a vision of the future of the computing world, but that’s not what I want. There is a real philosophical difference in how we approach this. I was even more excited to see what they put out there and how they would compete. In many ways, it gave hope that what we’re doing is important and will be successful. It will be a fun journey.

The Apple Vision Pro, while impressive, may not be innocent!

Those who have tried the Apple Vision Pro think the product is nice but has some issues!
