Twitter has fixed the ‘disappearing tweet’ issue in the web version. For about two months now, users have been complaining about the homepage refreshing itself when reading a tweet on the site. This causes new tweets to be automatically loaded on the timeline. As a matter of fact, a tweet you are reading at that moment disappears because it falls behind.

The social media company said in September that it was aware of the problem. “We know it’s a frustrating experience, so we’re working to change that,” Twitter said, saying it would fix the situation in two months. A small but important innovation has been implemented in the web version of the platform.

Twitter will no longer auto-refresh the homepage

Twitter announced the new feature with the following words:

An update to the disappearing Tweet experience is now available for the web! You can now choose when you want new Tweets to be uploaded to your timeline. To do this, click the Tweet counter bar at the top.

A new era has started on Twitter as of Monday. The home page was automatically refreshed as the people you followed shared tweets. The social media platform, which has removed this system from use, left it completely to the user’s choice whether to upload new posts or not. It also gave the freedom to never refresh tweets.

When new tweets to be uploaded are detected, Twitter will notify you at the top of the homepage. A prompt like “Show 20 Tweets” will appear and the homepage will not refresh unless clicked. When the Show button is pressed, it will suddenly jump to the top of the page. Thus, you will be able to quickly access the latest tweet uploaded.

Twitter likens homepage to Instagram

Not only solving the problem of disappearing tweets, Twitter continues to work hard to offer different experiences to its mobile users. In this context, the company recently changed the design of the home page. It has implemented an Instagram-like content design that takes up a larger area on the screen. The new skin is gradually available starting on iOS.

In addition, the platform has started showing full-size images in the app and web version. In this way, users who previously saw a cropped version of a photo can now see the full version. The new feature, which was started to be used on Android and iOS in the first place, came to the website last week.
