READING NOW NASA has completed the critical test for the Moon mission!

NASA is preparing to return to the Moon after more than 50 years. Completing the Artemis I mission in this process, the space agency continues its work at full speed. NASA, which will carry out a manned flight to the Moon in the coming years, has successfully completed another critical test.

NASA tests the engines that will take the SLS rocket into space

NASA plans to return to the Moon with the Artemis V mission in 2029. Continuing its work in this process, the space agency conducted the ignition tests of the new RS-25 engines that will launch the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket into space.

Announcing that the test was successfully completed with the statement made, NASA states that longer versions of this test will be made in the future. The space agency stated that they successfully completed the ninth leg of the process, which was determined as 12 tests. The remaining three tests are scheduled to take place before the end of this month.

Ignition tests of SLS rockets check the performance of the engine. NASA’s tests using the Fred Haise Test Stand at Stennis Space Center near Mississippi are critical to the Artemis missions. In this sense, it is of vital importance that the engines are transported in a healthy way.

In the most recent test, operators ran the RS-25 engine for more than eight minutes (500 seconds). That’s roughly the time it takes to launch the SLS rocket and a crewed Orion spacecraft into orbit.

NASA plans to launch a crewed flight very close to the Moon for the first time in November 2024. In the following years, the space agency aims to carry the first woman and black person to the Moon. Within the scope of NASA’s Moon mission, it will perform Artemis III and Artemis IV missions in the following years. With the Artemis V mission, the first manned landing on the Moon will be made after many years.

NASA is making plans to send humans back to the Moon with the Artemis missions. So what do you think about NASA and the Moon mission? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
