With Taptic Engine technology, devices will take less damage if hit
Apple has acknowledged that the existing haptic feedback engine can become damaged when subjected to unexpected drops or strong impacts. In such scenarios, mass inside the engine can exceed the threshold set by the spring, causing potential damage and disruption of haptic feedback functionality.
To address this concern, Apple has developed a unique solution. Building on the existing haptic feedback engine, they included a non-linear spring component that acts as a protective barrier against excessive forces during falls or collisions. This technology, which they call Taptic Engine, will protect the integrity of the engine and provide uninterrupted haptic feedback performance, relieving the load on the internal mechanisms.
