While the whole world was waiting for Apple to introduce its first mixed reality glasses on June 5, today, new glasses came from Meta after Oppo. Meta has officially announced the third virtual reality glasses Quest 3.
The new member of the virtual reality glasses, which dominates the market with Meta’s especially affordable price, will have almost the same price as the previous generation. But glasses are home to many innovations, especially the subject of lightness.
Introducing the new Meta Quest 3:
Let’s start with the design and physical features of Meta’s new Quest 3 glasses. The new glasses are much more compact and 40% thinner than Quest 2.
Of course, the lightness of the device is also impressive, with the reduced material and material improvements placed on the Quest 2. The device is 40% lighter than Quest 2. Considering that the Quest 2 weighs 503 grams, this will be a lightweight device as if you were only carrying a smartphone on your head.
Another impressive aspect of Quest 3, of course, lies in its hardware. The device is home to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset, whose name has not yet been revealed. With this hardware, much higher image resolution and much sharper images can be presented. Quest 2 was one click behind today in terms of resolution.
Along with the new glasses, new TruTouch haptic controllers were also shown. According to the statement shared by Meta, the new controllers will no longer need the ring-like structure in Quest 2 to track your hand position. Moreover, we will be able to “feel” the game environment with these controllers.
The exact date when Meta Quest 3 will be released has not yet been announced. Meta just said that the glasses will be released in the autumn period. The price of the glasses was determined as $ 499.99.
Along with Quest 3, Meta will also show new virtual reality games this evening at 20:00. Detailed information about the glasses will be shared at the event on September 27.
