According to blockchain data, the attacker behind the Tornado Cash DAO hijacking has begun moving illegally obtained tokens.
The DAO, which manages privacy-focused crypto operations, was taken over by an anonymous attacker or attackers on Saturday. The hacker, who started token transfer, attracted attention with various data on Etherscan and blockchain. According to data from Etherscan, addresses linked to the hacker moved 100 Ethereum (ETH) and 38,000 Tornado Cash (TORN) tokens in two transactions Wednesday night using the Tornado Cash protocol. At the same time, the crypto attacker holds more than 20 Ethereum ($35,684) in his wallet and continues to have access to all of Tornado Cash’s treasury funds.
Hacker Continues to Shake Tornado Cash Ecosystem
DAOs, short for decentralized organizations, allow token holders to lock their assets as votes to propose changes to a project. These changes range from treasury funds to purposes that benefit the project and expansion in other networks.
The attacker made a proposal that obscures a code function that gives false votes, such as the withdrawal of TORNs held in Tornado Cash’s main contract. The Tornado Cash attack, which has been mixed for now, has not gained any clarity.
