Japan-based technology giant Sony announced its brand new games during the “PlayStation Showcase” events held last night. However, another announcement, perhaps more valuable than all the games, took place at the event. The company has officially announced its new handheld console, which it calls “Project Q”, and the headset it has developed for gamers. Here is all the information shared about Project Q in the first announcement.
Project Q appeared as a customized version of the DualSense controller developed for PlayStation 5. Engineers placed an 8-inch display in the middle, while maintaining functionality on the left and right sides of the controller. This LCD screen offers 1080p resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate. DualSense’s haptic feedback and customization will also be available in Project Q.
Project Q is not a standalone handheld console like PSP!
But Project Q is a little different from consoles like the Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch. This product will be integrated with PlayStation 5 thanks to its Wi-Fi connection. Players will be able to play the game they have installed on PlayStation 5 on this console. In other words, Project Q will not be a standalone game console, or at least it will not offer the opportunity to play over the cloud for now.
Sony said Project Q will launch later this year. However, no explanation was made regarding the price of the handheld console. It is already a matter of curiosity whether the product will attract attention or not.
Let’s come to the wireless headset:
Sony did not make a detailed statement about its new wireless headset. However, it is stated that this wireless headset will offer low-latency lossless audio. The headset, which can be used on PlayStation 5, Project Q and PCs, will be released in a few months.
Sony did not share much technical specifications for both products and left the details for the coming months.
