Microsoft’s artificial intelligence supported search engine Bing has managed to receive positive reviews from users since ChatGPT support. Now a new report by Statcounter shows that Microsoft Bing has reached an important milestone. The search engine has outstripped its biggest competitor in China.

Bing continues to rise

According to the shared data, Microsoft Bing continues to progress rapidly towards becoming the largest search engine in China. Accordingly, reaching a market share of 37.4 percent in April 2023, Bing managed to surpass its closest rival Baidu by 10.3 percent. Right after Bing and Baidu are Sogou (16.36%), Yandex (7.45%), Haosou (6.25%) and Google (5.2%).

As you know, Bing was renewed with the GPT-3.5 model on February 8, in addition to deep integration with Microsoft products and services (Windows, Office and Xbox). On March 15, the search engine, which gained GPT 4 support, will apparently continue to gain new capabilities.

As a matter of fact, in a recent statement, DeepMind (Google’s subsidiary) co-founder Mustafa Süleyman stated that “traditional search methods will be obsolete in the next ten years and will be replaced by a conversational and interactive search experience”. The official argues that such a transformation will have a profound impact on the future of the internet, information and livelihoods.

In the global market, it should be noted that Google is by far the leader with a figure of 65 percent. Chinese search engine Baidu (8.2 percent) ranks second, followed by Yahoo (4.8 percent).
