German automaker BMW is after making car journeys more enjoyable. The brand recently received a new patent. Looking at the details of this patent, BMW owners will be able to turn the interior of their cars into an arcade. Here are the details about the project carried out in cooperation with BMW and AirConsole…
BMW promises to play both single player and multiplayer!
The Germany-based company follows the “smart car” trend, which is followed by almost all brands globally. In this context, the “movie theater” feature, which we first saw in the electric 7 series BMW i7 models, came. Now, the brand will offer the opportunity to turn the interior of its cars into a game room.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that BMW defined a small-scale in-car game console in its patent application last week. The patent is designed for passengers in the seat so that the driver is not distracted in traffic. It offers the opportunity to play together from a single passenger in the rear seat to three passengers.
Thanks to the patent developed in cooperation with AirConsole, each passenger will use their own iDrive screen as a monitor. The game handles of the imaginary console will be the phones of the passengers. The system, which will use the cloud system, will provide a variety of up to 200 games. These games will mostly include quick minigames similar to the Jackbox series.
Small-scale, fast-paced and entertaining games such as auto racing games, finding mystery boxes, and fighting games will be predominant. The system, which will use phones as game handles, will provide the connection with a special application that can only be accessed by BMW owners with a QR code inside the vehicle.
After the patent news was shared, some of the users liked the new feature very much. Especially during long hours of car journeys, large families stated that it is a great service to ensure that children are not bored. A group of users pointed out that this feature will distract the driver and this will lead to major traffic accidents.
The feature is currently in the patent stage. We will see the feature, which will be released at the end of 2023, in BMW cars soon. It is thought to be offered as an option rather than a standard feature. We will first see the new option in BMW’s electric car i7.
