Google recently released the second beta update of Android 14. However, users had the opportunity to discover new features of Google’s upcoming operating system. It looks like Google is planning to make screen recording a more privacy-focused feature.

The current Android version allows the screen recording function to turn off audio recording and hide touches. The new screen recording feature will allow you to limit recording to a single app or hide sensitive information such as notifications while recording.

Screen recording specific to one application

Mishaal Rahman shows how these two functions work in his tweet. When you touch a single application screen recording, a frame with the applications you recently opened appears. When you exit the application during recording, the screen goes black until you return to the application, so that your actions outside that application are not recorded.

It will now be used on all Android 14 phones.

Alternatively, you can choose to save everything, hiding only sensitive information such as notifications. In fact, the entire status bar is hidden in the screen recording. Because on some Android phones, screen recording already offers some privacy-related features for screen recording like in Samsung OneUI, but this is the first time it works natively on Android.
