Meta has been working on a Twitter-like post-focused Instagram platform for a while. Aiming to be decentralized, this platform will actually be a transformed version of Instagram. Recently, new details have emerged about how the app will look and when it will debut.
Twitter-like Instagram may launch in June
According to a new report by social media phenomenon Lia Haberman, Meta has come a long way in the application of its Twitter rival. Accordingly, the project is referred to as “Instagram’s new text-based app for chats.”
The application does not yet have a different name than Instagram, but it is called “P92” or “Barcelona” as the project name. In fact, it is expected to work completely dependent on Instagram. It will integrate with users’ existing Instagram accounts and will not require a separate account.
Accordingly, the Twitter-like application will also include basic profile elements such as the number of Instagram followers, username, bio and verification badge. According to the leaked design images, we can say that it is a similar design to Instagram, but it will be a text-oriented flow.
Instagram’s new application will also support users to add links, photos and videos. Unlike Twitter, it will be possible to write 500 characters in posts. The application will leave many settings to the user, unlike Instagram.
The first tests of the application, which will compete with Twitter, may begin in June. However, Instagram’s parent company, Meta, has yet to comment on these rumors.
