In the past months, it has been revealed that Meta, the company behind giant platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, will launch a text-oriented decentralized platform similar to Twitter. Afterwards, a lot of information came about this platform.

In these, it was stated that the platform was called “Barcelona” and that it was a separate application to be logged in via Instagram. It was also seen a few days ago that it could be introduced in the summer. While the excited waiting was going on, new information about the application came today.

This is what Meta’s new app will look like, with many Twitter-like features

Known for his posts about mobile applications, Matt Navarra gave us a first look at the new platform by quoting the posts of a user named Lia Haberman. In the shared image, it is seen that the platform, whose official name is not yet known, may have a stream resembling both Twitter and Instagram.

It is stated that the platform can rival applications such as the decentralized microblogging application Mastadon. In other words, users in other applications will be able to discover, follow and interact with profiles and content in the new Instagram-based application.

The home page will include both the posts of the people followed and the recommended content. In addition, posts with text up to 500 characters can be shared. That’s less than the 2,200 limit on Instagram posts. Let’s add that videos and images can be shared apart from text.

Finally, the application will also include security features. Accounts or words you block on Instagram will also be blocked on this platform. Haberman says the app could be out in June. We will see together whether it will be a formidable competitor to Twitter.
