Report: At least 4 years before Apple’s augmented reality glasses are introduced

Apple, one of the largest technology companies in the world; It plans to expand its success in sectors such as computers, tablets, smartphones and headphones soon. Weeks before the company’s first mixed reality helmet was introduced, new information came from the company’s long-term projects.

Apple employees see the project as hopeless

Mark Gurman, known for his sources close to Apple, shared new information about the company’s augmented reality glasses. According to Gurman, the augmented reality glasses were born as a project by Tim Cook and Jony Ive, but technical limitations caused the project to evolve into a mixed reality helmet. Apple, which wanted to make serious improvements in power consumption for augmented reality glasses to be successful in the long term, could not achieve this with today’s technology. Apparently, Apple engineers calculated that it only takes one-tenth of the power consumption to provide the full performance of an iPhone to prevent the glasses from overheating.

According to an Apple employee who spoke to Bloomberg, the company’s augmented reality glasses project has turned into a joke for the employees and the project has started to be described as “hopeless” within the company, and it is also mentioned that the only reason for working on the project is to make Tim Cook happy. It is also among the information that there has been no serious development on the project since 2019.

The focus of the firm is the mixed reality helmet

According to Gurman, the company has postponed its glasses project as a result of these developments, and there is at least 4 years until the company’s smart glasses project is introduced. Apple’s mixed reality helmet, which will be introduced at WWDC 2023, which is expected to take place in the coming weeks, will determine how the company will follow in this sector.
