AMD continues to progress successfully with the Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 7000X3D processors. Increasing its general processor market shares, the company also strengthens its hand on the corporate side. The latest information sheds light on the Ryzen 8000 family, the next generation desktop platform known as Granite Ridge.

Ryzen 8000 family can have a maximum of 16 cores

According to the data shared by Moore’s Law is Dead, AMD 2022-2025 Zen5/Zen5c server products roadmap has emerged. “Server” is the keyword here, as it indicates that Granite Ridge listed in this document refers more to embedded solutions and not to the Ryzen 8000 series. However, it does show that Granite Ridge is indeed limited to 16 cores and has a TDP of 65W to 170W.

More importantly, the shared slide also shows when products can go into production. Accordingly, the desktop Ryzen 8000 family is said to enter production in the 1st quarter of 2024 at the earliest. It is stated that the flagship models of the server side can go into production in the last quarter of this year. So far the Ryzen 8000X3D series has not been mentioned. However, AMD has confirmed that the Zen5 microarchitecture with 3D V-Cache is indeed planned. It is not yet clear whether this will result in a consumer product, but it is likely.
