People have been sharing their thoughts, jokes and milestones on Twitter for 17 years. If they die, go to jail or leave the platform, these posts can be seen as a memory quality for their families and close circles. But inactive Twitter accounts may be in danger of disappearing again.Elon Musk said on Twitter on Monday that he will clean up accounts that have been inactive for several years. The company announced a similar plan in 2019, but abandoned this plan after the backlash of users whose friends or family members died. Musk said that unused accounts will be archived, but did not provide details on how this would work.
For now, the most logical method to save the memories shared by users who no longer tweet is as follows;
Back up your own Tweets
To do this, go to Settings > Your Account > Download Archive of Your Data from Twitter. After going through a few security stages, you can press the “request archive” tab and request your information as a zip file. Archived information includes your account information, history, apps, devices, account activity, interests and advertising data.
After you create your request, you will have to wait a few days. When the archive is ready for download, you will receive a notification from your Twitter app and you will have a limited time to access the files. You can download your archive file when you click on the notification within the given time.
