As the crew descended, a SpaceX flight controller said, “On behalf of SpaceX, welcome to our world. ” he said. Having successfully completed its third mission to the ISS, SpaceX first sent two crews to the station in May 2020.
Proving that the Crew Dragon capsule is safe with its visit in May 2020, the company sent a four-man team to the ISS for the Crew-1 mission in November 2020. The Crew-2 mission, which began after the 6-month rotation was complete, began in April 2021, with the crew being sent into space.
Another crew of four will be assigned to the Crew-3 mission, including NASA astronauts Raja Chari, Thomas Marshburn and Kayla Barron, as well as German astronaut Matthias Maurer. The crew is scheduled to launch in a Crew Dragon capsule from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center at 21:03 on Wednesday, November 10.
A crew of four astronauts successfully returned to Earth this evening by splashing into the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Pensacola in a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule. Their return to the planet ends more than six months on the International Space Station and paves the way for another four-man crew to be launched to the ISS next week.
The Crew-3 launch, scheduled for October 31st, was delayed due to bad weather conditions and the health issue of one member of the crew. Refraining from making a statement about the health problem of the crew, NASA stated that the disease was not coronavirus.
The Crew Dragon capsule produced by SpaceX can last up to 210 days in orbit. Although the Crew-2 team had until November 19, an early return was made due to bad weather conditions.
