User data stolen confirmed
Details of the cyber-attack have not yet been disclosed. However, in mid-April, Techcrunch managed to speak to one of the names behind the attack and said that about 10 terabytes of data was stolen from Western Digital. At this point, it was still unclear whether users and their customers were affected by the breach.
As of May 5, 2023, Western Digital reportedly began sending emails to users confirming that an “unknown third-party source” had managed to access customer data. The stolen data includes personal user data, including “customer names, billing and shipping addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers.”

According to the email, the company has suspended access to its online store and the ability to shop online. This restriction will continue until May 15. Also, Western Digital advises users to be wary of emails from obscure sources.
