The crypto portfolio manager of a Dubai-based firm was recently kidnapped and held for ransom by his new colleagues while on vacation in Benalmádena, Spain. The manager’s rescue in Spain after his detention made a splash in the local press.
According to a report published in Spain, the victim had been with the group for several days. The executive met the detainee at a luxury villa, tied him up and demanded 1 million Euros for his release.
The kidnappers were rescued by sending a photo to his colleague while the victim allowed him to use his phone to contact the person to pay the ransom. His colleague, who saw the incident, reported the situation to the police.
The police immediately launched an investigation to find and release the victim. Using the information provided by his colleague, the police discovered the villa where the kidnappers were holding the victim. He then took the victim out of the scene.
Those who kidnapped his colleague for ransom are currently in police custody and await trial.
