Google Tensor G3 is starting to get clear
As you know, Samsung has been working on 4nm chips since 2021. However, it fell behind against TSMC, which offers better efficiency in similar processes. As a matter of fact, Qualcomm, which moved the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 production from Samsung to TSMC in 2022, came up with a remarkable increase in efficiency.
New reports say that Samsung has shown significant gains in the 4nm node and can now rival TSMC. As you know, Tensor processors, developed in partnership with Samsung and Google, have never been included in the flagship competition. However, the Tensor G3, which will accompany Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, can turn the situation around with its 4nm node.
It should also be noted that the transition to a smaller production process will not only be for performance. This upgrade, which will offer an increase in efficiency with less power consumption, will allow the chips to generate less heat and, accordingly, to reach higher clock speeds. Therefore, we can see tight competition on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Google Tensor G3 platforms, which will be based on the 4nm node.
