Fakespot has been a popular service for years that makes it easy to find misleading product reviews on popular e-commerce sites. Mozilla has now acquired Fakespot and will incorporate its technology into its browser.

Fakespot, which Mozilla will continue to develop, uses advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning to flag reviews that are most likely to be deceptive. Thus, sites aiming to appear at the top of search engines with fake comments in certain patterns emerge.

Fakespot will continue to be used as a browser add-on and the website will not be shut down. For now, all we know is; That Mozilla will integrate this tool into the Firefox browser. No information has been shared yet about how it will work. Presumably when we enter an online store, Firefox will show the Fakespot scores somewhere. Fakespot currently works on stores like Amazon, Best Buy, eBay, Shopify.
