Last month, we announced that WhatsApp developers are working on a feature called ‘Communities’. This new feature was first released by XDA Developers, beta v2. 21. 21. Discovered among the codes of version 6. In the news, it was stated that these new codes will be different from group chats. These differences include when admins of communities invite people.
But we didn’t know much about the community feature. Today, new information about the feature in question has emerged. Here are the details…
When will the ‘WhatsApp Communities’ feature be released?
As WABetaInfo reports, the communities are still in development and are not available for beta testers. WhatsApp will be available in beta (Android and iOS) in a future update. Thanks to the community, group admins will be able to group groups easily. So managers will have more control.
As we can see in the screenshots, people will be able to create a Community chat on WhatsApp. So it’s like group chats actually. Again, messages will be protected with end-to-end encryption. But of course there are differences from groups.
However, the communities icon is in a different design. Unlike group chats, the community icon is a square with rounded edges. The platform accidentally activated the icon design while working on this feature. He removed it shortly after. However, in the process, several users shared the images on Twitter.
Besides, admins can send messages in this group chat and group some community related groups. Well what does it mean? For example, consider a course as a community. All teaching classes are groups included in this community. The community offers admins some tools to better manage all groups included in the community. But we don’t know about these tools yet.
WhatsApp Communities will come with invite feature. Admins will invite other people to join the community. Users will be able to join manually or with the “Community Invite Link” sent by the administrator. Other than that, when you join a community, you won’t be able to send messages to all groups of the community right away.
Finally, there is no information yet on when the new feature will be released. We will share it with you when a new development emerges. What is your opinion about this new feature? We are waiting your comments…
