Wanting to maintain its leadership in the foldable phone market, Samsung accelerated its work for its new product. Some features of the Samsung Tri-Fold model, which is expected to be introduced this year, have emerged.
Samsung Tri-Fold specs leaked
The foldable phone concept, which was first introduced by Nokia in 2008, is now produced by many companies, especially Samsung and Huawei. Wanting to bring a new breath to the foldable phone market, Samsung will introduce the model it exhibited at the CES 2023 fair to users this year.
The patent application filed by Samsung to the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) on March 26, 2021 has been leaked in recent years. The application, titled “Method of sharing the battery in an electronic device”, consists of 72 pages of documents.
Examining the application, the LetsGoDigital team found that Samsung is working on a double-folding phone with reverse wireless charging technology. Reverse wireless charging, which first appeared on Galaxy S series and Note series devices, allows users to use their smartphones as a powerbank.
According to the leaked information, Samsung recently filed a patent application with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office). The company will include an OLED display in the Tri-Fold model.
It is stated that Samsung’s operating system will include sensors and chips embedded in the hinges to adjust the user interface. For example, if both hinges are fully open, the sensors will transmit this information to the processor and display the processor UI elements on the screen.
The new model will be double-hinged and three-piece foldable, similar to several concepts showcased by Samsung Display at CES in January. It is estimated that the new model will include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has one 3.2GHz Cortex-X2, three 2.8GHz Cortex-A710 and four Cortex-A510 cores.
