OpenAI made the necessary adjustments
In a statement provided by OpenAI, “ChatGPT can be reused by our users in Italy. We are excited to welcome them back and we are committed to protecting their privacy.” OpenAI said it had met a set of conditions that the Italian data protection authority asked to be met by April 30 to lift the ban on AI software.
So far, none of these changes seem to significantly change how ChatGPT works in Italy. But OpenAI is almost certain to face other challenges. Spain, Canada and other countries have opened or are considering opening investigations into the app, including how education data is collected in the large language model and what information this model produces for users. On the other hand, the European Union is working on the Artificial Intelligence Law, which will regulate the research of companies such as OpenAI.
