Artificial intelligence technology continues to become more widespread day by day. Already, the European Union had started to prepare the law on artificial intelligence two years ago.

New Proposal for Artificial Intelligence from the EU

While the use of artificial intelligence technologies is increasing, the European Commission started to prepare the Artificial Intelligence Law about two years ago. Under this law, companies using manufacturer artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT will have to share copyrighted materials used to develop their systems, according to an early EU agreement that could pave the way for the world’s first comprehensive law.

Members of the European Parliament agreed to move the draft to the next stage, the tripartite stage, where EU lawmakers and member states will discuss the final details of the bill. Under the draft, AI tools will be classified based on perceived risk levels, and areas of concern could include biometric surveillance, spreading misinformation or discriminatory language. While high-risk tools will not be banned, their users will need to be extremely transparent in their operations in favor of the transparency requirement.
