Merlin, the decentralized exchange serving on the Tier-2 network zkSync, suffered a $1.82 million hack.

Ethereum scaling and layer-2 network zkSync is working hard to build a strong ecosystem. Many projects have started to come to life in the zkSync ecosystem. The decentralized exchange Merlin serves users using the zkSync network. Finally, Merlin faced a $1.82 million hack just after receiving contract control from CertiK.

Merlin on zkSync Network Loses $1.82 Million

Merlin, who received code approval from CertiK, was soon exposed to a hack worth $ 1.82 million. CertiK found that the project using the zkSync network was hacked as a result of problems with the private key method. According to CertiK this hack is not due to an absolute code exploit.

Making a statement on the subject, CertiK stated that the controls cannot prevent private key problems and that the best practices in the project are always emphasized. In addition, CertiK underlined that if it detects any irregularities, it will work with the authorities.

Additionally, eZKalibur, the zkSync launchpad project, announced that it has identified malicious code behind the $1.82 million attack. Merlin requested its users to revoke access to their wallets connected to the website.
