According to Strategy Analytics research firm, Apple saw a huge increase in MacBook sales in the last quarter thanks to discounts on MacBook Air. The company sold 6.5 million MacBooks in the third quarter of 2021, up 10 percent from last year. Meanwhile, Chromebook sales have actually dropped for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
Analysts say sales would have been even higher had it not been for chip shortages and higher costs that drove prices up and caused some delays. Lenovo was the top computer seller with 15.3 million sales last quarter, while HP, Dell, Apple and ASUS rounded out the top five.
