Computers have become an integral part of our lives. However, the equipment we use with the computer is just as important as the computer itself. Because equipment such as a keyboard, mouse or chair can adversely affect our health when they are not ergonomically suitable. Being aware of this, a group of researchers took action to produce personalized mice. The team named Formify started to produce custom mice using artificial intelligence and 3D printers.
You may have thought that when artificial intelligence and 3D printing got into the business, it was necessary to go to a center to have personalized mice. But that is not necessary. All you have to do to purchase Formify’s custom mice is to take a photo of your palm. After this simple process, artificial intelligence and 3D printers come into play.
Sustainable as well as private
The system implemented by Formify works like this: The consumer takes a photo of the palm and uploads it to the system. In the second stage, artificial intelligence comes into play and analyzes the photograph in depth and creates the design of the most suitable model for the consumer. In the final stage, the mouse is printed with three-dimensional printers. The mouse, which weighs 55 grams on average, can be used up to 26,000 DPI. The self-battery mouse offers up to two weeks of uninterrupted use.
The personalized mouse initiative actually emerged as a sustainable system. Mice using nylon 12 (PA 12) type filaments are produced with a printing technique called Multi-Jet Fusion (MJF). In this way, the unused 80 percent of the filament can be recycled and used. Mice, which can be purchased for $140 on Kickstarter for now, will be available in mass production for $175 in the future.
