We know that in-game items are sold for tons of money, but it is quite remarkable that Valve’s free-to-play shooter Counter-Strike made one of the highest payments ever for an item: The price of this purchase, which took place in Global Offensive, is exactly 400 thousand dollars.
According to a post shared on Twitter by CS:GO skin merchant “zipL”, an agreement was reached between seller “Luksusbums” and an unnamed Chinese buyer in early April. Sale includes 2 products. One of them is the version of the game’s Blue Stone Karambit knife, which sells for over $ 100,000, and the other is the sale of the StatTrak Tier 1 Case Hardened AK-47 with a Blue Stone pattern on which 4 Katowice 2014 Titan Holo stickers are applied. This in-game item was sold for over $400,000, with a total of over $500,000 paid for each of the 2 items.

CS:GO has seen a huge increase in its player base over the past few weeks. This is largely due to Valve’s announcement of Counter-Strike 2, which will be released this summer as a free upgrade to CS:GO. Some in-game items will become even more valuable as all weapon skins from CS:GO will be transferred to Counter-Strike 2. So we may continue to see record prices in the coming days.
