Apple frequently applies for patents for very interesting features that can bring many innovations to its devices. For example, a patent has emerged recently showing that AirPods models may come with a touch screen.

Today, it has been seen that the company is working on a feature that can turn desktop computers iMac models into projectors. This feature, which actually appeared a few years ago, has now managed to get a patent from the US Trademark and Patent Office.

It may be possible to mirror the iMac’s screen onto walls

This innovation, seen in the patent application, basically aims to enable its users to expand their screen by transferring it to other surfaces. So if it’s real, it will be possible to enlarge the iMac’s screen by mirroring it on places like walls.

According to the application, Apple wants the screen of its iMac models to be projected onto surfaces around the computer (such as the back) through projectors placed in different parts. In this way, it is aimed to expand the area used for visual outputs and provide a better experience to users.

In addition, the company notes that although the patent seems to be for a future iMac model, similar features can be integrated into MacBook, mixed reality glasses and other products.

Apart from that, an important question is how to offer a solution in case the iMac blocks the image on the wall. It may be desirable to give an invisible air to the iMac by using glass or a different transparent structure, or by a different method. On the other hand, there is also the possibility that the parts that block the view can be viewed directly on the screen of the device.

We don’t know if this feature will be a reality, as Apple has filed so many patents and made very few of them a reality. Still, it has to be said that it is a very interesting and innovative feature. Whether it will work as intended in practice is another matter of curiosity.
